Bürgermeister-Stöcklein-Straße 1

2. General information on data processing
We generally only process personal data of our users to the extent that this is necessary to provide a functional website and our content or if you have consented to this. The legal basis is in particular Article 6 Paragraph 1 lit. a (consent), lit. b (contract/initiation), lit. c (legal obligation) and lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest).
3. Hosting (WordPress.com / Automattic)
This website is hosted on the WordPress.com (Atomic) platform of Automattic Inc., 60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA. When you access the website, Automattic processes technical data as a processor (including IP address, date/time, resource accessed, referrer, browser/device data). The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure, efficient operation). A data processing agreement pursuant to Article 28 GDPR is in place. Since a transfer can take place to the USA, this is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or EU standard contractual clauses.
4. Server log files
The hosting service automatically collects and stores information in server log files that your browser transmits (browser type/version, operating system, referrer URL, host name, time of request, IP address). This data is not merged with other data sources. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
5. Content Delivery Network / Images (Photon / Jetpack CDN)
For faster delivery of images, the image CDN from Automattic (Photon, domains i0/i1/i2.wp.com) is used. Your IP address will be transmitted to Automattic’s servers. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Performance). Here too, a transfer to the USA can take place (see section 3).
6. Reach measurement (Matomo Analytics)
We use Matomo Analytics, an open-source analytics platform that we host ourselves on our own web space, to measure reach. Data is not transferred to third parties or to the USA or any other third country; all data remains on our server. Matomo is configured to set no cookies and to anonymize IP addresses before processing. The data cannot be used to identify individuals. We collect only aggregated, pseudonymous metrics such as page views, referrer, approximate country, device type and browser. We also respect your browser’s Do Not Track signal. Because Matomo does not use cookies and the data is anonymized and processed only on our own server, this processing does not require consent. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in privacy-friendly, self-hosted reach measurement). Further information: https://matomo.org/privacy/.
Objection (opt-out): You can object to the anonymous range measurement at any time. A corresponding opt-out is set via the following selection:
You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.
7. Cookies
The website uses only technically necessary or functional cookies where required by WordPress.com security and basic site functions. The EN/DE language selection is transmitted through the lang URL parameter and does not set a dedicated language cookie. Matomo is configured to operate without analytics cookies. Any non-essential cookie will only be used with consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25 TDDDG.
8. Comment function
If you leave a comment, the data entered in the form (name, email if applicable, website, comment text) as well as IP address and time stamp will be saved to avoid misuse. The service Gravatar (Automattic) can be used to display a profile picture; A hash of your email address is sent to Gravatar. Legal basis: Article 6 paragraph 1 lit. a and lit. f GDPR.
9. Newsletter subscription (Jetpack)
On the book pages you can voluntarily subscribe to new posts by email using Jetpack Subscriptions, a service provided by Automattic Inc. The email address, IP address, time of registration and confirmation status are processed to deliver the subscription and document consent. Jetpack sends a confirmation email (double opt-in); the subscription becomes active only after confirmation. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Automattic processes the data as a service provider; transfers to the USA may be based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. Subscription data is retained until withdrawal or as long as statutory evidence obligations require. The book download is also available without subscribing.
10. Contact form / making contact
When you use the contact form (https://jannikreinhard.com/contact/), the data you provide (name, email, if applicable company/occasion, topic, message) will be processed to handle your request and sent to the controller by email. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual) or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose and there are no legal retention requirements.
11. Embedded YouTube videos (two-click solution)
Content from YouTube (Google Ireland Ltd.) is integrated via a data protection-friendly “click to load” solution: no data is transferred to YouTube/Google before you actively start the video by clicking on it. Only then will a connection be made to Google servers, whereby your IP address and, if necessary, other data will be transmitted. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent by clicking). Data protection: https://policies.google.com/privacy
12. External links (sponsors, “Buy Me a Coffee”)
